I attained Fellowship in Spinal Surgery from Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Hospital, Oswestry following my higher surgical training in trauma & orthopaedics, based at the St George Medical School Hospital London. Currently I am employed as a Consultant Spinal & Orthopaedic Surgeon with an additional interest in lower limb arthroplasty, I perform various forms of spinal surgery except childhood deformities. In the Northern Deanery as a Spinal trainer I have engaged in the training of Specialist Registrars for the last twenty years. I am a member of AO spine and trauma faculty.
My work is dominated by all forms of spinal trauma, degenerative conditions, tumours and problems related to the cervical spine. I have maintained a healthy interest and experience in primary hip and knee arthroplasty.
Presently, I am involved in a Multicentre Furlong Evolution Hip Trial in conjunction with Imperial College, London. I have four publications in foremost peer reviewed journals on the topics of arthroplasty and spinal surgery. Over in my NHS and in the private setting I have laid out a spinal scoring process and adoption of British Spinal Registry for collating patient outcome measures.

Personal profile
I like to think that I am an affable, no nonsense `what you see is what you get' sort of a chap. I enjoy classical music and possibly getaway as a nominal Water colourist. I hold a flying license for Piper 28 single engine aircraft with night and IMC rating. I am very attached to my two 1951 and 58 MGs and enjoy the membership of MG Vintage Car Club. With diffidence I take my Royal Enfield motorcycle on carefully chosen Sunday mornings before the milkman is up! I am married to a Cardiac Anaesthetist and have a daughter reading medicine in Bristol.
