Ananda Nanu

Professional Profile

I trained in the north-east of England and Liverpool where I completed a masters degree in orthopaedic surgery. I led the pelvic and acetabular reconstruction service in Sunderland, providing a surgical service for the management of this complex traumatic injury until the establishment of the MTC in Newcastle.

The youngest patient I have performed a hip replacement on was 11 and the oldest 99. I deal with failed hip replacements and their removal and reconstruction. I am on the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. I have been a Council Member of the British Orthopaedic Association since 2013 and a member of the Executive since 2015. I am the President of the British Orthopaedic Association for 2017-2018 during the Centenary of the BOA.

I have contributed to several publications and I am a chapter author of the Oxford Textbook of Orthopaedics (2011 edition). I run my private practice from Spire Washington Hospital and am available for choose and book appointments. I hold my out-patient clinics on Friday afternoons.
